What your yarn does when no one is watching.

Here we have a photo documentary of what your yarn is doing while sitting around watiing to be delivered. No yarns were harmed during the taking of these pics.
These guys used some of my purchase order to roll up a cigarette, hope that isn't hemp yarn they're smokin. Thanks goodness they didn't have a match, the whole box could have been lost.
These guys are having a little party. I think the fellow on the left has had a little too much. He looks a little green around the strands.
These two got a little active during their trip. THey seem to be using a knitted condom. Wonder if I'll get some mini balls of yarn running around after this?
Here an older and wiser yarn ball is teaching them the proper type of protection to use.
These yarns know how to have good clean fun. Here they can be seen jumping rope.
How low can you go? more fun from the preppy yarns.

We have been very busy around here with school and everything.

I joined the prayer shawl ministry at my church, and right now I am working on a baby blanket for another ministry we are doing. One of the ladies from church is opening an orphanage in Malawi Africa, and we are knitting up as many items as we can for them between now and next June. The orphanage is goingot have mainly kids ages 3 to 8, although they can use items of any size either there, in other orphanages around there, or just to give out to people in the community who need them.

I am also working on an entrelac bag pattern. I am writing it as I go, but I think I am going to run out of yarn. I hope it looks nice as a fruit bowl.

I will try to get some pics on here of some of the things I am working on, and maybe I will get some goodies for my birthday next weekend, although I think I am just getting money from most of my family. My mom may get me a gift card to Michael's and/or Hobby Lobby.

Gauge is important

Don't we all know this? And yet, did I check my gauge on my purse? NO!! I figured, "it's a purse, how much difference could it make?" So, today I finished the cable part of the pattern, and folded it in half to see how big it was going to be, and it is going to be about 4 inches tall, and 16 inches across. Why is this? Becasue my row gauge should have been 17 rows to 4 inches, but instead it was 22 rows to 4 inches. And my stitch gauge should have been 13 stitches to 4 inches, but it was more like 10 stitches to 4 inches. so, I have a really wide, squatty purse. :(

SO, tonight we add another repeat or two, to make it look right. So frustrating.

And, I can't find circular purse handles in anything bigger than 5". I really need at least 8" and probably more like 10". My mom hasn't found the ones she was looking for yet. SO, DH said he will make me something. I am a little skeered.

Big Fat Liar

That is me. I often say I am going ot do something, then don't. I either forget, or get busy (I almost typed busty, but that is always true :teehee:) or something. so, here are the pics I promised. they are from when the purse was only about 1/4 way finished, and before the sweater was blocked, but here they are anyway.

Knit Night

Last night was my second time going to the knitting group that has started here. I love being able and sit around with a wonderful group of women and knit, talk, and enjoy each others company. I got 12 rows done on my purse, which was way more tahn I expected too.

I figured that with three different cables going at the same time, two of them twice, I would get lost if I tried to talk at the same time I was knitting them. But I didn't. I just followed my pattern and marked it on my chart, and scooted right along on it.

Today I have done 4 more rows, so I only have 16 more rows of cables, and 14 rows of Stockinette, and I am done!

Now, to call my mom and see if she has found those purse handles she said I could have yet. :tap:

Well, I was going to post pictures, but flickr is down right now, so I will post them after church. I promise!! :flirt:

Life on the otherside

knittinghelp, where i have spent so much of my time for the last 10 months, is over for me. Everything about the board has changed since I joined, and it quit feeling like hoe a while ago. But I held on, not wanting to lose so many people I held so dear. And the place that kept me knitting on more than one occasion when I wanted to quit. but, it isn't the place it used to be, and it isn't a place for me anymore.

So, I finished my friends sweater in time, except for blocking it, had to take it back so I can do that. I have started a Cabled purse, I am over halfway through with it. I will post pics as soon as I figure out how.

I knew I wasn't going to be real good at this

I was afraid I would have a hard time keeping this blog up. I have enough trouble updating the one on KnittingHelp.com, where I visit everyday.

I haven't done much since my last post anyway. DS went to another camp, this one wiht our church. He is back now. His school starts back in a week and a half. It is so hard to believe he is going to be in second grade. It seems like he was just a baby.

DD1 will be staying home with me this year. SHe has been in daycare part time, but she hates it, so I decided to give her one more year at home before she starts "big school".

DD2 will be 1 next week. Another hard to believe moment. It has passed so fast. And it is really hard because I know that she is probably my last baby, unless we decide to adopt later on.

DH and I have decided to make some big changes in our lives. We are starting Weight Watchers as soon as our books get here. I did WW about 2 years ago and I was very successful. I lost about 70 pounds, and DH lost 30 even though he wasn't really trying. THen I got pregnant with DD2.

We are also starting the FlyLady thing again. Today is my first day, so my goal for the day is to SHine my Sink and do 1 load of Laundry.

My biggedst thing with these changes is to make myself go slowly so that I don't get overwhelmed and quit like I have in the past.

Does anyone out there have any tips to help me with this?

On the knitting front, not much to report. I have been working on some charity projects, and my friend's sweater for her birthday. It is coming up fast, so i need to really get knitting.
